Recreation Committee

The City of Harlem’s Recreation Committee was formed in 2010 with a goal of exploring and pursuing new recreational opportunities for the Harlem Community.  Potential projects that are in various stages of development include the Sandy Run Creek Trail, trails on a large tract of land in conservation use, and a new city park.

In 2014, the City Council approved a “Greenways Trails Connections” plan that outlines a comprehensive trails network around the City.  The Sandy Run Creek Trail would be the first step of that plan.  Amendments to the City’s Subdivision Regulations have also been approved that would require the consideration of the trails network when new developments are in the planning stages.
